What is Spyseek?
Spyseek is a social deduction game inspired by the popular boardgame, Spyfall. We aim to collect data on how humans update belief about uncertain possibilities.

What are the rules?
One player is the Spy
and needs to try and guess the secret location. The other players are Agents, and need to find the Spy
without revealing the location.
Each turn, a player will ask another player a question. The question can be yes/no, or open-ended. The other player must
then provide an answer.
After every turn, all players will be asked to update their belief - this is private and for data collection only.
At any point, a player can accuse another of being the Spy, or the Spy can guess the location. If the Spy guesses correctly, or the wrong player is convicted, the Spy wins.
If the Spy guesses incorrectly, or is convicted, the Agents win.

FAQ
Can the Spy ask questions?
Yes. The Spy takes turns like everyone else. They should ask and answer
carefully to avoid giving themselves away.
Can the Spy accuse?
Yes. The Spy can accuse another player. This can be a smart strategy if the Spy seeks to win by convicting another player.
Can I ask open-ended questions?
Absolutely, get creative! Open-ended questions are often the most useful in revealing information. For example: "If you worked at this location, what would your company slogan be?".
How does accusation work?
A player accuses one other player of being the Spy. The other players cast their votes (agree or disagree) and the accused is only convicted if the votes are unanimous.
How many accusations do I get?
You can only accuse once, so accuse carefully. If the timer runs out, you can accuse one more time during Final Accusation.
What happens if the timer runs out?
The Spy can no longer guess the secret location and the Final Accusation phase begins, starting with the Host.
Each player gets one chance to accuse, and if no conviction is achieved, the Spy wins.
What determines the player that asks next?
The first player to ask a question is randomly decided. From then on, the player to whom the last question was asked gets to ask the next question.
Can I ask any player a question?
You can ask any player a question, as long as they didn't ask the previous question.
